Le vendredi 5 juin à 14h, Arthur Enguehard soutiendra sa thèse intitulée Listening to Audified Seismograms: Crafting from Sound Arts and Ecosophy an Alternative Practice in Seismology. Soutenance de thèse développée en co-direction entre EnsadLab et le Laboratoire de Géologie de l'École Normale Supérieure - PSL
À cette occasion, une exposition en accès libre accompagnera la soutenance de 15h à 21h dans la Salle Serre (E509, 5e étage).
Une approche alternative de la recherche en sismologie
La sismologie a co-évolué avec la transcription visuelle des vibrations du sol. Leur examen auditif est resté jusqu’à présent anecdotique. Cette thèse constitue une enquête méthodologique dans laquelle Arthur Enguehard explore comment des situations d’écoute basées sur l’audification d’enregistrements sismiques peuvent accompagner la construction d’une pratique de recherche alternative en sismologie.

On Friday, June 5 at 2:00 PM, Arthur Enguehard will defend his doctoral dissertation entitled Listening to Audified Seismograms: Crafting from Sound Arts and Ecosophy an Alternative Practice in Seismology. This PhD research was jointly supervised by EnsadLab and the Geology Laboratory of the École Normale Supérieure – PSL.
On this occasion, a free public exhibition will accompany the defense from 3pm to 9pm in the Salle Serre (E509, 5th floor).
An Alternative Approach to Research in Seismology
Seismology has co-evolved with the visual transcription of ground vibrations. Their auditory examination has remained largely anecdotal until now. This dissertation constitutes a methodological investigation in which Arthur Enguehard explores how listening situations based on the audification of seismic recordings can support the development of an alternative research practice in seismology.
