PUBLICATION – La Mode comme Indiscipline

La Mode comme indiscipline (Fashion as Indiscipline), book resulting from the eponymous colloquium organised by the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs and the Ecole Duperré as part of the Cerisy colloquia in 2021, will be available from the 15th March. Between permanence and novelty, materiality and immateriality, this collective book edited by Mathieu Buard, Céline Mallet and Aurélie Mosse, aims to bear witness to the richness of this creative field by outlining the current state of thinking on, by and for fashion. Researchers, philosophers, designers, performance artists, collectors and artistic directors have been invited to work together to examine these areas through four central themes: the formation of styles, between clichés and emancipations; the forms of conservation of fashion, both artistic and heritage; the relationship between this industry and the market; and finally the current creative processes, from an ecological and resilience perspective.  Research by textile and clothing design is given a particular prominence with contributions from Jeanne Vicerial, Pauline van Dongen, Laetitia Forst, Aurélie Mosse and Rebecca Earley.

The book is published by B42  and takes part of the activities of the Soft Matters research group.
